The Fishless Fisherman

A group of fisherman got together to speak about their call of fishing. They discussed about how to fish in their streams and lakes which were full of fish, they also had a seminar on fishing and invited experts to talk on it. They discussed on boat making, the quality of nets and baits and every equipment required. They made a study on the materials required for these equipments and then came up with a catchy slogan on fishing.  Fishing is the aim of every fisherman. Every fisherman is a fisher. Everyone should be a fisherman and every fisherman should fish.

 They started a university and built research labs, centres and gave doctrates to those who came to enroll as students. (doctor of Fishology) None of them ever went to a stream or lake to fish. All of a sudden there was one among them who went to fish and caught two fishes. He was called to share his unique experience on how he went fishing and got two fishes. He became a star attraction. He got calls to go and give symposiums and demonstrate how he got two fishes. He was now a very busy man and an international speaker that he never got time to fish again. Even the one man who went to fish, the fishermen made sure that he never caught more than two fishes in all his life. This is the story of the fishless fisherman.

The Church is full of Fishless Fisherman (fisher on men) who does not want to get into the act of fishing. They prefer to speak and do research on the subject without venturing into the waters all their lifetime. May the Lord speak to Christians today and challenge them to fish for souls in the ocean of life.
